Andrii Yashchuk is a Doctor of Philosophy in History and Archaeology. In 2023, he defended his dissertation on "Urban Heraldry of Southern Ukraine: Trends and Transformations in Historical Development (late 18th – early 21st centuries)."
From 2016 to 2017, he served as the chief archivist of the Preservation and Accounting Department at the Central State Electronic Archive of Ukraine. Since 2021 and up to the present, he has been a senior research fellow in the Numismatics Department of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine. He is the author of publications on the history of urban heraldry in Ukraine from the 19th to the 21st centuries, addressing issues such as the influence of state ideologies on the creation and existence of city coats of arms, the history of the presence of the so-called "Soviet heraldry" in Ukraine, and the trends in the development of contemporary urban heraldry, especially in Southern Ukraine.
